inigence Springback Compensator:Our in-house product for developing tools for dimensionally accurate sheet metal stampings

With our proprietary and partially patented inigence Springback Compensator, we have created a unique software solution that relieves method planners of the essential work involved in springback compensation. The quality of the results in terms of components and manufacturing processes in the simulation creates the conditions for a fast and cost-effective tool tryout process. In this way, we are making an innovative contribution to efficient toolmaking and robust press part production.

Due to its high complexity, springback compensation requires a high degree of expert knowledge. An optimal result in the physical sense is practically never achieved. Rather, tool design is a matter of philosophy in many companies. Unlike almost anywhere else in vehicle manufacturing, the work result depends on the individual process planner and, due to the low degree of standardization of the process, is in many cases difficult to understand and inefficient.
inigence has developed an innovative solution in the form of the inigence Springback Compensator, which fulfills the criteria relevant to forming technology for functional springback compensation.

Product and function features:

  • Perfectly scaled drawshell: after removal from the drawing tool, the drawn part has the same developed length and the same surface area as the CAD-designed zero part. This is an essential prerequisite for optimum dimensional accuracy of the compensated component.
  • Part-optimized compensation geometries: Each tool stage of the multi-stage operation sequence is compensated so that the tool geometry in the areas receiving the workpiece matches the incoming workpiece. In addition to a robust pressing process, this ensures that only elastic effects that are unavoidable in forming technology need to be compensated for, and not also unwanted elastic deformation when the blankholder is closed.
  • Unfolding-equivalent overbending: Our patented, FEM-based compensation algorithm ensures that the workpiece does not suffer from any unfolding errors during overbending, whether in the course of virtual springback compensation or physical tool correction.
  • Standardized compensation process: thanks to a high degree of standardization and user-friendliness, operation can be learned in an extremely short time. The consideration of well over a hundred checkpoints from our compensation checklist ensures a high degree of process reliability in springback compensation.

Our services:
